WHY HERE, WHY NOW?

Welcome to My Degree Matters Colorado.  We’re glad you’re here.

According to a report by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, by 2020, 65% of all jobs in the economy will require postsecondary education and training beyond high school. Yet, Lumina Foundation notes that only 47.5 percent of Colorado’s 2.8 million working-age adults hold a two- or four-year college degree. Even now, Manpower’s Talent Shortage survey found that 40% of U.S. employers report difficulty filling jobs. The number one reason they cite is lack of technical competence, and the number two reason is lack of soft skills.

A degree can make a huge difference – in the life of an individual, to the success of a business, and in the prosperity of Colorado. That's why My Degree Matters Colorado is working hard to raise the number of degrees earned in Colorado.

Whether you're a student, thinking about becoming a student, an employer, involved with CO higher education, part of community group, or a CO policy maker – there are resources here for you. So poke around. Learn more. Get involved. Degrees are good for all of us.
